Thank you Peter for giving me such a wonderful insight into Wales.
I was thrilled with the beauty of the country, particularly the Beacons and the Usk and Wye valleys - Tintern is haunting. It was good to get a glimpse of the Rhondda valley and the remains of the coal industry. People have always associated Wales with coal mines and slag heaps, but everywhere is now so clean and tidy.

The story of the drovers taking cattle from Llandovery to London is of course reminiscent of the old droving days of Australia - the Birdsville track and Banjo Patterson.

Other things that stand out: St Davids and Brecon cathedrals; Pembrokeshire coast walk with the wild flowers and all the seabirds; Aberglasney gardens and the work that the team are doing there; Carew castle and tidal mill; the canals and the part they played in the early days of the Industrial Revolution (aqueduct at Llanfrynach over the Usk is amazing); the comfort and warmth of the B&bs; meals at the Owl and the Pussy Cat and the Butchers Arms - and I did really eat bread made from seaweed!

Peter, it was wonderful getting to know Wales with you. Thank you and good wishes for your future. You are offering something very special.

Greetings to you and Lucy from 'down under' Bob

THINGS WE HAVE DONE in the years Pendragon has been in business

Located family graves in Camrose churchyard (1823), St Martins near Wrexham (1780) and others, and researched family records in archive of the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth; pony trekking near Brecon; barge trip on canal from Govilon to Talybont on Usk; walked 5 miles of Offa’s Dyke near Knighton; taken steam railways from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion, and Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge; visited National Trust properties - Powis Castle near Welshpool, Bodnant gardens near Conway, Erddig near Wrexham, Plas Newydd on Anglesey and Llanerchaeron near Aberaeron.

Taken train to the summit of Snowdon; boat trips from St Davids round Ramsey Island; and from Dale out to Skokholm and Skomer islands; to see the bluebells and sea birds; been down the Roman gold mines at Dolaucothi, and Big Pit at Blaenafon, the coal mine exhibition run by the National Museum – you are taken underground by ex-miners who used to work in this pit which ceased coal production in the 1980s; enjoyed Don Carlos in the new Opera House in Cardiff Bay; attended concerts and rehearsals of the Pontypridd Male Voice Choir.

Wales on way to win over Australia - Millennium Stadium

As well as seeing lots of castles – Pembroke, Harlech, Conwy, Caerphilly, Raglan and more! – St Davids Cathedral and Tintern Abbey; Hay on Wye for the Festival and bookshops; Laugharne for Dylan Thomas; many private gardens as well as the restored 17thC gardens at Aberglasney and the National Botanic Garden near Carmarthen; the world famous Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans, a small village outside Cardiff and just a mile from this house – and being at all times in beautiful countryside surrounded by spectacular scenery.
